You can take advantage of many dental apps that will help your practice run more efficiently and improve patient relationships.

Nowadays, dentists can take advantage of many available dental apps to improve their patients’ experience. Although some patient-focused apps are not designed for dentists themselves, you can nevertheless use them to improve patient relationships in various ways. Here is our recommended list of dental apps that can benefit you and your patients.

Patient communication

It is hard to explain dental procedures or terminology to your patients in plain language. The most used type of dental app is for patient communication. Applications use 3D images, videos, etc., to make patient education easier. Some popular apps include Bonebox Dental Lite, Dental Pain Lite and Teeth Anatomy 3D. Apps such as Bio|View allow you to upload your own images and add text. Know Your Dentist, in addition to patient communication, also contains information about how to take care of one’s teeth to prevent dental problems.

Dental anesthesia

When your patient needs to be anesthetized, you have a list of things to make sure of before you can determine the type and weight of the anesthetic to be used. There are dental apps that help dentists with a list of questions and then suggest which anesthetic and how much you should apply. Dental Anesthetic is an example that does so.

Dental prescription

You may be able to save time from looking up scripts required to manage a patient’s oral symptoms and from calculating the amount of prescription! There are dental apps that present details of available prescription drugs and show you what you have to write for all dental conditions. An example is Dental Prescriber, which also incorporates anesthetic calculation.

Patient self-care3D teeth on first aid kit for oral care concept

Patients may wish to understand some minor dental issues by themselves without having to visit your dental office. Patient self-care apps intend to provide oral health guides. Recommending a good patient-focused app is a way to show your care to your patients. Dentify is an example of this type of dental app. American Dental Association’s ADA Dental Symptom Checker allows patients to search ADA dentists as well as look up common dental symptoms.

Dental Trauma First Aid is more focused on providing advice in emergent situations before patients can get treatment from your dental clinic.

Teeth brushing

Teeth brushing is a biggest part of most people’s day-to-day oral health procedure. You can recommend some dental apps to help your patients do it more effectively. There are several types of teeth brushing apps that fit different groups of patients.

For teenagers and younger people, Brush DJ allows them to play music of their choice for a designated period of time; some are for children, such as Disney Magic Timer; for more serious and detailed guidance on how to brush their teeth, you may consider recommending Dental Coach to your patients.

babyMedical education games

Many games are designed to educate users about dental procedures while having fun. Dental Speak,  Root Canal Surgery, and Dentist Simulator are some of the popular ones. Recommending games as such will help educate your patients about medical procedures and engage younger patients to build better patient relationships.
